The most common mistake in graduation planning is dividing the entire final bill by the number of students. When you do that, a single mother accompanying her child ends up subsidizing the family next door that arrived with mom, dad, and two grandparents.
The Two-Basket Formula for fair math:
- Basket A (Shared overhead per graduate): (Venue + Host + DJ + Photos + Teacher gifts) ÷ Number of students.
- Basket B (Banquet meal per person): Student meal vs Adult meal calculated separately.
- Total per family: Basket A + Student Meal + (Adult Meal × Number of attending adults).
Worked Example: If shared overhead is 6,000 RUB per graduate, a student meal is 2,500 RUB, and an adult meal is 3,500 RUB:
• Student alone: 6,000 + 2,500 = 8,500 RUB
• Student + 1 parent: 8,500 + 3,500 = 12,000 RUB
• Student + 2 parents: 8,500 + 7,000 = 15,500 RUB
